Enlarged by His Hand

Jabez understood that true enlargement requires more than a wider coast; it requires the hand of God. Opportunity without divine presence can become overwhelming, but enlargement under God's hand carries grace, guidance, protection and preservation. Jabez therefore asked for expansion and companionship in the same prayer: ‘enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me.’ As God increases your influence, responsibility and territory, seek His hand more earnestly than the increase itself. His hand gives strength for the greater assignment, wisdom for the wider field and protection from the dangers that accompany progress. The God who granted Jabez his request is still able to enlarge you without allowing the blessing to destroy you. Welcome His enlargement, but never attempt to carry it without His presence.
